While printing organs may sound like technology of the future, Associate Professor and Copenhaver Fellow in the School of Engineering Liheng Cai has created a method to do so using voxel bioprinting.
The Leventals have identified a key mechanism by which T cells recognize cancerous cells. T cells detect and kill infected cells. This process, the Levental Lab discovered, is facilitated by the interaction between the cell membrane and protein condensates — cellular structures that organize cytoplasm.
Kelsey Johnson, a professor of astronomy, is driven by a deep curiosity about the universe’s most fundamental processes. Her current research focuses on extreme star clusters, known as super star clusters. By analyzing how these clusters form, Johnson hopes to gain insights about the physical conditions of the early universe.
